A sudden cloudburst in Gadgram village of Rajgarh area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district on Saturday left at least four people dead and one missing, prompting authorities to launch large-scale rescue operations.
Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan and Senior Superintendent of Police Arun Gupta rushed to the spot along with SDRF and Quick Response Teams to oversee relief measures. DC Khan is personally monitoring the operations, with the administration placed on high alert.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives in Ramban and Reasi due to cloudbursts and landslides, assuring that all possible assistance is being extended to the victims’ families.
According to officials, the cloudburst triggered flash floods in Natna area, damaging a house and a school besides disrupting daily life. Rescue teams continue to search for the missing person while immediate relief is being provided to the affected families.
